Harrisonia (2024)
Description: I tend to gravitate towards fairly minimal and/or desaturated color palettes in my maps, so I challenged myself to push my boundaries a little bit. I had a dream about this color palette, and I was in the midst of creating a map of cities that share my name. Seemed like an ideal pairing. The Prairie Style stained glass motif was a bit of a coincidence– I initially set out to create something more in the style of a Pendleton blanket. But it was an additionally fortuitous turn because it supplied the map title as well (viz. Usonia). And as with simple color palettes, I also often tend to gravitate towards Wright-esque designs. Here’s the result.
This map is a comprehensive survey of Incorporated and Census-Designated Places named simply, “Harrison”. Places with name variations like “Harrison City” or “Harrisonburg” were excluded.
